Common tests also cover color fastness to washing, rubbing, perspiration, and water. Hotel bedding requires frequent laundering; if color fastness is inadequate, issues such as fading or color bleeding can occur, detracting from the room's overall neat appearance. Additionally, properties like breathability and moisture absorption-which directly impact the guest's sleeping comfort-may be tested based on the fabric's intended use. For products like mattress protectors or specialized bedding made from functional fabrics, tests for waterproofing, stain resistance, and antibacterial properties may be conducted to ensure the product meets practical performance requirements.
Since items such as sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases come into prolonged contact with human skin, they must be tested against applicable textile standards for fiber composition, formaldehyde content, pH levels, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, odors, and other safety indicators. When purchasing, hotels can require suppliers to provide compliant test reports and conduct their own acceptance inspections on delivered goods, focusing on material, specifications, color, weight (gsm), and visual quality. For hotel linens intended for long-term use, simulated repeated-wash tests can also be performed to observe changes in dimensions, color, hand-feel, and strength. Comprehensive testing across physical properties, color fastness, functional performance, and safety allows for a more accurate assessment of the quality and durability of hotel bedding fabrics.
